Jess’s Story

f you’d told me a year ago that I’d be excited to go to the gym — or that I’d be telling strangers I can kind of do a pull-up — I would’ve laughed. But here we are.

I joined TMB because I realised I’d let long work days take over my life. Fitness had completely dropped off the radar, and I wanted something I could genuinely commit to and build into my routine. My goal at the start was simple: get stronger and feel better (with a small hope that I’d tone up a bit too!).

Getting Started — The Nerves Were Real

Walking into TMB for the first time was terrifying. I’d never been part of a gym before, I didn’t know the names of anything, and all the equipment looked like it could launch me into orbit if I touched it wrong.

But the coaches explain everything so clearly, demonstrate it all, and answer every one of my (many) questions — including the repeated ones about how to add up weights… which I still can’t do.

Those nerves disappeared quicker than I expected, and now I genuinely look forward to my sessions.

The Progress I Didn’t Expect

Even just a few months in, I feel stronger, fitter and so much more confident. There are some tiny little biceps appearing (I promise!) and I’m doing things I never imagined I’d be able to do.

Most sessions I’m trying something completely new. Every time I manage it, it feels like a big achievement. And yes — I will absolutely tell anyone who will listen that I can almost do a pull-up now.

Changes Outside the Gym

The impact hasn’t just been physical.

  • I make better nutrition choices now without feeling like I’m forcing myself.

  • I have more energy — which I didn’t even realise I was missing until I got it back.

  • And the biggest one for me: I’m finally sleeping better. That alone has made a huge difference to my day-to-day life.

Why TMB Works For Me

Honestly, the environment is everything. The community at TMB is so supportive, welcoming and fun. It’s the only reason I’ve been able to stay consistent — which has never been my strong suit.

It’s been lovely meeting everyone, and it’s nice to feel like you’re part of something rather than just turning up to a gym.

My Advice If You’re Thinking About Starting

If you’re nervous — TMB is the perfect place to begin.
Everything is step-by-step, the programmes make it easy to see your progress, and the coaches are brilliant at guiding you without making you feel judged or overwhelmed.

Getting started is honestly the hardest part. After that… it becomes addictive.

What’s Next for Me?

My goal now is to keep getting stronger and see what else I can do. Oh — and to get thighs of steel, 90s Baywatch Pam Anderson style. A girl can dream.

A Big Thank You

To the whole TMB team: thank you. Your support has meant so much. My sessions are now one of the highlights of my week, and I genuinely can’t imagine not having them as part of my life.
