Ben’s Story
Hi, I’m Ben, I’m 28 years old, and I joined TMB in November last year. Before that, I’d been a member of various gyms for years, but my progress had stalled. I was bored of doing the same routine inconsistently and felt like I needed a proper plan—something more structured that would keep me motivated and accountable.
Why I Joined TMB
I wanted guidance and variety—I knew I needed help building a consistent routine, both in terms of exercise and nutrition.
My Goals When I Started
My main goals were to lose weight and build muscle. I’ve always enjoyed lifting weights, but I’d never been consistent enough to see long-term results. I wanted that to change.
What I’ve Achieved So Far
Since starting at TMB, I’ve lost 35 pounds, and I feel like a completely different person. My cardiovascular fitness has improved massively, and I’ve gotten noticeably stronger. I can now deadlift 90kg and I’m either increasing the weight or the volume every week. Even more importantly, I feel more confident in myself and my body, which has made me more comfortable in social situations.
Overcoming the Challenges
One of the early challenges for me was getting my form right. It took some patience, but once I nailed the technique, I was able to lift heavier and train more effectively. That initial focus on the basics really paid off.
Day-to-Day Changes
Since starting this journey, I’ve noticed I have much more energy day to day. I’ve also become a lot more disciplined—both in sticking to my workout routine and staying on top of my nutrition.
My Advice to Anyone Just Starting Out
Celebrate the small wins. Whether it’s doing a couple of extra reps, hitting a new PB, or reaching a weight loss target, these moments really help keep you motivated. Progress isn’t always linear, but those little victories add up and keep you going.
The TMB Environment
The support I’ve had from Harry and Dexter has made a massive difference. They don’t just show you how to do the exercises—they really encourage you to push yourself and get the most out of every session. They’ve created a great atmosphere, and I’ve really enjoyed the the Small Group PT sessions too.
What’s Next for Me
I want to continue losing weight and toning up, but I also want to build the confidence to do more advanced exercises—like pull-ups and split squats—without needing assistance from a band or a stick. I’m excited to keep pushing myself and see where this journey takes me next.
