How Training Works at TMB
At The Movement Barn we deliver expertly designed programmes that we’re incredibly proud of, coaching you through every session while scaling and adapting workouts to meet you where you are in your fitness journey.
Your goals, training history and any past injuries all play a role in finding the best approach for you. That’s why we may recommend one or a combination of our training options to help you move forward and achieve lasting results.
Training Framework
At The Movement Barn, our coaching is built around three key elements that together form the foundation of an effective training programme.
Every well-designed programme should include strength, aerobic fitness and quality movement. The balance between these elements will shift depending on your goals, training history and any previous injuries, but all three play an important role in helping you build a resilient, capable body.
We use this framework to guide how we programme training for our members, ensuring that over time you are developing strength, improving fitness and moving well.
Build
Build focuses on strength training. Through carefully structured sessions you’ll work to develop stronger muscles, connective tissue and overall physical capacity. This provides the foundation that supports everything else in your training.
Breathe
Breathe sessions focus on aerobic fitness and conditioning. Developing your aerobic engine supports recovery, improves overall health and allows you to sustain higher levels of performance in your training and everyday life.
Move
Move focuses on improving mobility, control and overall joint function. We use Pilates as the primary method for developing these qualities, helping you build greater body awareness, stability and coordination.
Dedicated Move sections within our sessions allow us to focus more specifically on the movement qualities most relevant to that workout. At the same time, the Move principle runs throughout all of our training, with elements of mobility, control and movement quality integrated into many sessions to support long-term progress and help you move well both inside and outside the gym.
Training Options
Group Fitness Classes
Our group training sessions are at the heart of what we do. With sessions capped at 12 people, our coaches can scale and adjust each workout so everyone can train at the right level while still enjoying the energy of training together.
Following our structured 12-week training cycles, these sessions provide a clear and sustainable approach to building strength, improving fitness and supporting long-term health.
Small Group Personal Training
Small group personal training combines the benefits of personal training with the motivation of training alongside others in a more social and cost-effective setting.
With just four people per session, there is more time and space for your coach to tailor the workout to your needs. Movements can be scaled to match your ability, and exercises adjusted where necessary so you can train safely, effectively and with confidence.
One to One Personal Training
If you’re looking for a completely tailored approach, one-to-one personal training offers coaching designed around your goals, fitness level and lifestyle.
Your coach will guide you through each session, making adjustments and offering feedback along the way so you can progress safely and confidently.
